These falls are located within Camp Frank Merrill near Dahlonega, Georgia. This is where the Army Rangers do the mountain phase of their training. In fact, on this visit, we had to wait about 20 minutes for a life-fire exercise to end before we could enter the area. And this year, with all the rain we have had, the water flow was unusually high.
We had this as our view when we stayed at the Mujib Biosphere. The landscape is alien.
There are resorts along the coast, but we chose to stay in the cottages here so we would be away from the more built-up areas around the resorts. The stairs leading down to the water are just beyond the cairn in the center of this photo.
These unusual hills were created when the land around them collapsed.
There are hundreds of waterfalls in North Georgia. I have hike to about 60 of them so far. Some are more spectacular than others. This one was quite impressive.
